Peggy Feltmate retiring after 22 years of community service
Posted Feb 8, 2010 By EMC NewsAfter 22 years of serving Kanata as councillor and as executive director of the Western Ottawa Community Resource Centre, Ward 23 Kanata South councillor Peggy Feltmate announced she will not be running in the Oct. 25 municipal election.
“It has been a privilege to work for the people of Kanata for the last 22 years,” said Feltmate. “With the birth of my grandson last June, I decided that, when my term on council expires, working for the community needs to become a part-time, volunteer activity.”
“There is a temptation to stick around until every issue I am working on is resolved, but I know by the time that happens new issues will have been added to the list. What I am pleased about is that it has been possible to make progress on longstanding problems facing our community.”
