MUSEUMS

The National Gallery of Canada presents Maurice Denis: Journeys from Jan. 13 to April 20. Denis was a member of the Nabis group of painters. Influenced by Catholic subjects and images of Italy, Denis illustrated many books, including classic works by poet Paul Verlaine and novelist André Gide. NEW ART SHOWS

Afghanistan Hidden Treasures is on at the Canadian Museum of Civilization until March 28. This acclaimed exhibition showcases treasures that miraculously survived war and chaos in Afghanistan. These stunning objects, from the National Museum in Kabul, were hidden for 20 years by a group of brave Afghans. Today, they shine anew in this special and unique exhibition.

The C4 Gallery has now set up shop at the Shenkman Arts Centre. True to its name the four Cs stand for contemporary, conceptual, compartmental, community Ottawa's newest gallery is a unique one-of-a-kind mobile exhibit that brings art directly to people. The C4 Gallery can be viewed free of charge until March 19 at the Shenkman Arts Centre, 245 Centrum Boulevard.
